Make the most of your market shopping by choosing produce when it's in season. Here's a month-by-month look at the best time to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables in Ontario:

July
Fruit: apricots, blueberries, cherries, currants, gooseberries, peaches, plums, raspberries, strawberries.
Vegetables: beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumber, garlic, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, peas, peppers, potatoes, radishes, spinach, rapini, rutabaga, tomatoes, zucchini.

August
Fruit: apples, apricots, blueberries, currants, gooseberries, grapes, muskmelon, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, raspberries, watermelon.
Vegetables: beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, peppers, potatoes, radishes, rapini, rutabaga, spinach, squash, tomatoes, zucchini.

September
Fruit: apples, blueberries, crabapples, grapes, muskmelon, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, watermelon
Vegetables: beans, beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, peas, peppers, potatoes, radishes, rapini, rutabaga, spinach, sprouts, squash. tomatoes, zucchini.
