Other Manitoba markets:

Steinbach & District Farmers Market
Where: In the Clearspring Village Mall parking lot in Steinbach
When: Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., July to October.

Portage La Prairie Farmers Market
Where: Heritage Square on Royal Road North, in Portage La Prairie
When: Wednesdays and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon, July to October.

'Tis the season
Make the most of your market shopping by choosing produce that's in season. Here's a month-by-month look at the best time to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables in Manitoba:

July
Fruit: apples, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupes, cherries, gooseberries, nectarines, raspberries, rhubarb, Saskatoon berries, strawberries
Vegetables: beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, celery, carrots, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, peas, peppers, potatoes, summer squash, tomatoes.

August
Fruit: apples, Asian pears, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupes, choke cherries, gooseberries, nectarines, pears, raspberries, rhubarb, Saskatoon berries
Vegetables: beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, celery, carrots, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, peas, peppers, potatoes, summer squash, winter squash, sweet corn, tomatoes.

September
Fruit: apples, Asian pears, cantaloupes
Vegetables: beans, beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, summer squash, winter squash, sweet corn, tomatoes.
