It may still be cold and dreary in most parts of Canada this February, but this is the month of love, courtesy of Valentine's Day, so fire things up and light the flames of passion.
Here are 10 ways to ignite your desires, whether you're interested in Cupid's holiday or not.
1. Say "I love you" While many of us believe that our nearest and dearest know they're loved, it never hurts to say so. This month, be sure to tell someone (husband or wife, mother or father, sister, brother or friend) that you love him or her. Three small words hold big meaning -- don't let them go unsaid this month.
2. Enjoy a chocolate treat It's been over a month since Christmas, and while many people may have recommitted to a regular workout routine in January, February is the month for a little reckless indulgence. Enjoy the sweet and satisfying taste of your favourite chocolate goodies. Be careful not to go overboard, but allow yourself to enjoy a few guilt-free mouthfuls of your favourite sweet treat.
3. Head south According to the Cleveland Clinic Health Information Centre, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression that typically occurs in the winter months and ends in spring. Research indicates that SAD is caused, in part, by lack of exposure to sunlight and that it occurs more commonly in people who live far from the equator in regions with very short days during the winter months. Beat the winter blues with a down-south vacation that will revive and rejuvenate you.
4. Paint your bedroom A coat of paint is one of the most inexpensive ways to give a room a lift. Inject some colour and warmth into your bedroom with a quick once-over of a fresh, warm coat of paint. Visit www.benjaminmoore.com and try out their Personal Colour Viewer, an online paint-picker tool that'll help you choose the perfect shade.
5. Rev up the romance February is the perfect time to step up the sizzle factor in your romantic relationship. We'll leave it up to you to decide just how you do that, but if you're looking for some creative inspiration, why not think back to the way that you and your lover met and recreate those special moments?
