December is that glorious time of year when we're filled with the spirit of the holiday season and everyone seems to be brimming with good cheer and goodwill. While it can be a stressful month, take time to get the most out of it for it does, indeed, only come once a year. Here are 10 ways you can delight in December.
1. Rent classic holiday movies Indulge in an evening of nostalgia. Make it a night to remember with an assortment of holiday favourites, movies like Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life. You'll be transported back in time -- and it's the perfect way to remind yourself of the childlike wonder the holiday season holds.
2. Start your holiday baking Haul out the flour, sugar and eggs, strap on an apron and hop to your holiday baking. Play your favourite Christmas CD and dedicate an entire day to the endeavour. Stuck for ideas? Check out the homemakers.com recipe section for delectable Christmas treats and ensure great results with a baking 101 refresher.
3. Get a pedicure Just because we're in the throes of winter and your little piggies are hibernating for the season under woolen socks doesn't mean they don't deserve some attention, too. Treat your feet to a pedicure that'll have your toes at the ready for holiday parties and strappy sandals.
4. Make a wreath The stores are full of pre-fab wreaths, but why not make your own original creation? This month, explore your creative side by making a holiday wreath to adorn your front door. You'll feel a thrill of accomplishment when guests enter your holiday home and are greeted by your handiwork.
5. Tell someone you love them It's the time of year for love, peace and harmony. Tell someone special that you love him or her. Whether it's a spouse, a parent, a child or a friend, reach out to someone this month and spread some joy. Make sure that the people who mean the most to you know just how much you love them.
