As the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada's website appropriately indicates: "Finding answers. For life," this site provides in-depth articles about heart disease and stroke.
On the site, you'll find general information outlining the factors and warning signs of stroke or heart disease. Under Healthy Living, you'll find suggestions for leading a healthy lifestyle with recipes, weight-loss suggestions, and health tools in order to reduce the risk of stroke and/or heart disease. Read survivor stories and learn from men and women who have experienced heart conditions.
In an interesting section dedicated to women and their health, you'll find information for women who are at risk of stroke or heart disease or suffering from it.
Be sure to take the heart and stroke risk assessment test with questions about your diet, family health history and physical activities. When you complete the test, your personal risk profile and customized action plan will outline your non-modifiable and modifiable risks.
This site also features links to relevant online resources for even more information on heart and stroke, from Heart and Stroke Research and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society to the Canadian Health Network. -- Christina Bernardo
